Happy New Year!!! Everyone :O)

zwani.com myspace graphic comments

It is now 2012, can't believe it! I don't have any New Year resolutions, just want to live the best life that I can, with the Good Lord's help. I want to be able to treat people the way that God would have me do, and with his help I can! I pray that this year is better than last year, too many disaster's this year. Still remembering all those who lost so much this year, or someone near and dear to their hearts. I wish you all health, happiness, love and all the good things that life can bring, but most of all that the Lord can bless each and everyone of you!
Thank you all so much for all your wonderful comments, support, help, and just sometimes making my day! Hugs! Leah Ann

Too busy for a friend... this will touch your heart :O)

Too Busy for a Friend.....
One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.

Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down.

It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual.

On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another. That group of students moved on.

Several years later, one of the students was killed in
Vietnam and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature..

The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.

As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math teacher?' he asked. She nodded: 'yes.' Then he said: 'Mark talked about you a lot.'

After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his teacher.
'We want to show you something,' his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it.'
Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him.
'Thank you so much for doing that,' Mark's mother said. 'As you can see, Mark treasured it.'

All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, 'I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home.'

Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.'

'I have mine too,' Marilyn said. 'It's in my diary'

Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash, she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists'

That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be.

So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late.

And One Way To Accomplish This Is: Forward this message on. If you do not send it, you will have, once again passed up the wonderful opportunity to do something nice and beautiful.

If you've received this, it is because someone cares for you and it means there is probably at least someone for whom you care.
If you're 'too busy' to take those few minutes right now to forward this message on, would this be the VERY first time you didn't do that little thing that would make a difference in your relationships?

The more people that you send this to, the better you'll be at reaching out to those you care about.

Remember, you reap what you sow. What you put into the lives of others comes back into your own.

Uggh Hoping to escape this winter bug that's been going around...NOT!

Oh! I've been fighting a winter bug since Friday. I'd hate to think how sick I would be if I didn't have the anti-biotic in my system. Almost made it through except today. Don had to go by himself to the last stop..I've been in bed sick all day :(
I have slept most of the day. Hoping tomorrow will be better.
We have rain and snow coming in....not sure how much snow we will get! Looks like 1-3 inches which is not biggie here, but the salt trucks cannot start until it does start snowing due to the rain the weather man says...so I guess we will see in the morning. I think I will be staying in to stay warm and get well!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I think all the grandkids were happy with their Christmas! Be safe and warm everyone! Hugs! Leah Ann

In Memory of Grandma Dot reading this to all her grand and great grandbabies :O)

In Memory of Grandma Dot...reading this story to her grandbabies and great-grandbabies every Christmas Eve.
Miss you Mom!

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
by Clement Clarke Moore
or Henry Livingston

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!

Merry Christmas EVERYONE :O)

The Stamping Boutique: Monthly drawing for a free image!

Done Baking! Yeah!!!! Now got to clean house...:(

All finished baking, now I need to clean house. Did get the kitchen cleaned, but still got to do the floor, and the rest of the house...boy! am I ever glad we are done. Cooking is not my cup of tea anymore...!
I guess after 3 kids and years of it, I'm just tired :O)
I sure wish I could wiggle my nose and it would clean it's own little self, or the little elves would show up tonight and I could rest, stamp or anything else...tee hee hee.
Well, it's almost 3 a.m. so I'm going to put my sleep clothes on, read until I can hardly keep my little peepers open and go to sleep!

Christmas Mice are done, made 41 of them little dudes :O)

 I forgot to take a picture of them, these are not mine...but so you could get an idea of what they look like. My eyes are not so bugged out, I use red gel for the eyes and nose. Mine look better if I do say so myself :O)
I used Hershey's Chocolate Kisses, sliced almonds, red food gel, cherries with stems, milk chocolate chips, parafinn. Melt chocolate and parafinn in candy melter. Dip cherries and attach to kisses right away and add almond slices for ears quickly :O) Then put red gel for eyes and nose...fun and cute!

Christmas Mice are done! Made 41 of them little cuties...fun! I can't wait to see Jonathan's face...he will either like them and want to eat one, or......he will be afraid of it. I'm not sure if Faith and Kayli will like them or not...we shall see!!! Hello Dolly's are done, just have to cut them...yeah!
Now to tell you, my brain is gone....We made our batter for Chocolate Pixie cookies, sitting in the frig for 2 hrs. Hubby and I are thinking we may have to make more, and I said well....we have 4 more squares of chocolate, and he said, ugghh we shouldn't have any left....so we had to take them back out of frig, let them warm at room temp, melt more unsweetened chocolate and add to it...luckily it worked...but we still have to roll them, roll in powdered sugar and bake! Otherwise we would have been done, uggh not now thanks to my brain leaving and where it's at, I do not know!!!!  :O)

Recipe for Peanut Butter Balls

I was asked for this recipe, so here you go :O)

Peanut Butter Balls

1 1/2 cups peanut butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
2 -12 oz. bags of chocolate (milk, semi sweet, or white - your preference) I use Tollhouse Chocolate chips
2" square paraphinn wax (if chocolate thickens to quickly add more if needed) I find white chocolate gets thick quicker than brown.

This is important to mix powdered sugar and butter/margarine together first!
Then add vanilla and peanut butter...mixture should be firm enough to roll into balls.

Melt chocolate chips in double boiler or chocolate melting pot and shred paraphinn - heat together until melted completely.
Dip peanut butter balls in chocolate and set on wax paper till cooled and more firm.
The white chocolate are so delicious! I think they are my favorite...

Tadah!!! Ready to eat :O)
Hugs! Leah Ann

Peanut butter balls are made :O)

Well hubby and I made peanut butter balls. Some in White Chocolate and some in Milk Chocolate. We made chocolate covered pretzels with what chocolate we had left. Tomorrow is Hello Dollies and getting batter ready for Chocolate Pixie cookies. Then probably Thursday we will be making Christmas Mice.... :O) Then I think we are done with the cooking part.
After today, I know why I quit making peanut butter balls...aching back and shoulders...that's o.k....one of our sons wanted peanut butter balls last year, and well....we didn't get them done!
I can't believe our weather, here it is less than a week before Christmas and I looked at the temp and it was 50 degrees....but I think I heard on a News commercial that we might get some bad weather...but was so busy didn't get to listen to the news. I know it was misting rain earlier...It will probably snow and blow Friday night when we go to our oldest sons for Christmas there and he lives in the country! Glad hubby is driving ... tee hee hee!!! ummm I think? :O)

Please pray for Noah age 4, a little guy in our family has non Hodgkin Lymphoma

Last day for my blog candy, ends today at 10 p.m........

Hello All, Today is the last day to enter a chance to win my blog candy. Please be sure to enter by 10 p.m. I have 3 candies, so there will be 3 winners!
Sorry no cards the last few days! I have several images colored and getting ready.
I enjoyed a visit with grandkids and kids today. I thought that I was going to go with my daughter to take her 2 year old to Riley. Poor little guy has a lot of trouble with his ears, and antibiotics are not working. She can't get him in to an ENT till Jan 5th, and he is not sleeping, and keeps pulling at his ears and crying. The doctor gave her a different antibiotic today and enough to last until he can get in to his appointment.
I am done making Christmas cards I think, unless it's a special order and at this point, it's almost too late. Next week we start baking so I don't know if I will get cards done till after Christmas. I'll see how things go. I think that I will get in there and work on them and something comes up.
Friday, we go to our oldest sons, then Saturday our daughter and boys come here, then Sunday is at our youngest sons. Then Monday it is at another daughter's house, so as you can see, it's busy, busy, busy!
Click on my blog candy at top right on my side bar and it will take you to my blog candy... Good Luck!

A Grandmother's Prayer

Dear God,
I am grateful for the sweet grandchildren you have given to me.
•    I pray you will give me the grace to be a “Mamaw” who loves, accepts, leads and guides them with your love.
•    I want to model my faith in Jesus so they will be to encouraged put their faith in you early in their lives.
•    I pray they will develop a compassionate heart with a desire to serve others.
•    When discouraged, may they trust you for their hope for a future and develop perseverance during hard times.
•    May they enjoy hard work and find joy and contentment in each day despite difficult circumstances.
•    Help them to enjoy the small things in their lives and take time to smell the roses and notice the beautiful clouds in the sky.
•    I trust they will seek new experiences in your creation around them in place of material possessions.
•    I pray they will hold their possessions loosely and give cheerfully to your work.
•    My desire is for them to develop a strong prayer life as they grow in their faith.
•    Above all, may they seek your guidance in everything they do and may Jesus’ love shine through them to everyone.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Problem with refilling Copic Markers ... HELP :O)

I bought the needles (refill boosters) to refill my copics. Now when I start to color it just pours out a blob of color! Arrgghh!!! I took a paper towel and soaked up as much thinking that maybe I overfilled it. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or has anyone else had this problem?
Also I started using cryogen paper, and I'm having problems with it bleeding outside the lines. It blends better but I don't like it running outside the lines. Gina K doesn't do that...Arrgghhh! AGAIN...just not my day!
Thanks for any help, Hugs! Leah Ann

A wet trip to Wal-mart!

Since I slept till 4 p.m. today, still bright eyed and bushy tailed, so we went to Wal-mart in this wonderful rain! Soaked, but have all the things we need to make our Christmas Candy/Cookies for the kids :O) I wanted to go late tonight and get it over with so we didn't have to deal with the crowd. It was empty, kind of nice except for only having 1 cashier at the opposite end of the store to where you can enter and where we parked. I think I've gotten my exercise for the night :O) Now, somehow, got to get sleepy so tomorrow I won't sleep the day away, what a messed up sleep schedule. Still no cards, or coloring. I have tons of ideas in my head, now to get them on cards! Santa has been good to me already. A while back my son gave me two sewing machines hoping I could get one to work, well....neither worked, so hubby bought me one that actually threads it for you, yeah! which is good for me because I can't see half the time to thread the needle :O) I got a few new things to stamp with and I'm so excited!!! Hopefully tomorrow I will have some cards...of course I had to watch X-factor, and can't wait to see who wins! I can hear the rain pouring right now and looks like it's here until later on today, if not longer!

4 days left to enter my candy! ..... and.....

Hello All! Well it's now only 4 days left to enter my candy. Be sure to click on the link at the top of my sidebar and it will take you there!
 I have colored I think 3 images, but no cards today yet...couldn't sleep last night, my knees were hurting too bad, so I got up and took another Alieve, and finally went to sleep, but it was 8 am, and then I slept till 4 pm today...ugghh! It could be our lovely, rainy weather, but it's better than snow!
I am now ready for Christmas as far as shopping, well I still have to get Dad's but I already know what  I'm going to do, so it's not a problem :O) Now I just have to get peanut butter balls, Christmas mice, Don's favorite cookie, and not sure what else and then I will be done!
We are making cooking tins for each of our kids families.
Sorry I haven't been on much, trying to keep up but between knees hurting, shopping and everything else in between, there are just not enough hours in the day, and when there is, I just need the energy to accomplish them :O)

I now have 350 followers :O) One week left to enter my Blog Candy!

I am truly thankful today! I now have 350 followers and I never dreamed of having this many, so happy :O)
I just wanted to say to my wonderful followers (THANK YOU) and I appreciate each and every one of you! I have met so many wonderful folks out here in blog land. When I started my blog, I had no idea how to even go about it. Along the way I have had so many precious folks who have helped me when I needed it, and I appreciate it so much! I don't care if you've followed me 1 day or months or years or going to follow me, I appreciate each of you!
In just 2 weeks Christmas will be here, and I can hardly believe how fast it comes each year. The true meaning of Christmas is not the presents that we receive but giving and receiving what the Lord has for us each and every day. I'm so thankful that I have him to call on and talk to no matter where I am or who I'm with. He has kept his hand on me and my family and friends each and every day. Just knowing he is there to help us, make us stronger, and for just loving us with all our little flaws and faults, and big things that we can't fix ourselves, he can help us through. Just to feel his love and joy is so much to be Thankful for. It is the time of year that it seems families and friend get together and enjoy each other, but most importantly it is the Lord in our life, just what he means that is the wonderful Gift of Christmas.
Sometimes we have to check ourselves and remember what Christmas is all about, because as humans we do tend to forget the true meaning of Christmas.
I hope each and every one of you and your families have a wonderful Christmas! But most of all, I wish you peace, joy, love and happiness, and remember Charity. Charity is not giving money, although it is charity, but my Dad always says that to put on Charity, its getting your Love to One Another. He said, I can say I have something for you such as money, or love, or just a kind word, but unless we actually get that to the person, and do it, it means nothing.
I know I hear people say, Look what I did, I gave this or that to so and so....I was taught that when you give, you give to the person, and that's it, you don't say look what I did. It's doing without telling someone look what I did. God knows and that's what matters.
I remember a story my grandmother told me: There was an old woman, and she need wood for a fire to keep warm. She was praying one night to the Lord to please help her and that she need wood to warm her. Some boys overheard her praying and said...Let's go chop wood and put it by her house and she will think God did it, joking and laughing at the old woman. Well the joke was on the boys because God used those boys that thought they were playing a joke on the woman, to cut her wood, stack it and he answered that little old woman's prayer because she had what she needed.
Sometimes God answers our prayers in mysterious ways! I'm so glad for the loving God that we serve!
The next couple of weeks is going to be a super busy time for all of us, time for families and friends to share the Holiday season. As much as I love making cards and crafting, it's time to spend with families and friends and enjoy one another while we can. We never know what the future brings, so I want to live each day the best that I can and know that none of us are promised tomorrow here on this earth!
Hugs! Leah Ann

Nice Birthday Party!

Granddaughter's birthday party was very nice! Had a good time, enjoying our family. We all gathered in, and Gracie didn't know we were going to celebrate her birthday, thought it was just game night according to her brother, and she was a little depressed, went in her room till her daddy brought her cake in the living room, lit her candles and called her in the living room. I think she was happy after all that :O)
You've got to know her daddy to appreciate it ... tee hee, I'm sure she is getting use to it by now!

I remember one year one of my nieces wanted a special pair of shoes she had her heart set on. Well her Mom took out the shoes, and put oranges in the box. When she opened it the oranges rolled out on the floor. Boy, was she ever mad! I'll never forget the look on her face :O) The thing is, she started crying...I guess she didn't like the joke that was played on her...I don't think anyone thought she would get so mad and upset and cry, I think we all felt bad! :O)

Trying to keep up! Not doing so great on visiting blogs!

Oh my, feeling the Christmas crunch....along with so many birthday's. In my family, we have birthday's the 7, 11, 18,(Christmas), then the 29th. Have birthday party tomorrow night to go to. I can't seem to find the time to color images, make cards or comment like I normally do, and I fear it's going to be like this till after December.When I do have the time, I'm too tired! Don't give up on me :O)

Just Wordz DT Day My first Paper Bag Card

Happy Happy Happy Christmas
~ this little penguin reminds me of Happy Feet!~
I used Prisma watercolor pencils and Gamsol. I'm not great at coloring black and especially not with copics!
I like copics because they are brighter, but it looks pretty in person, so I'm happy with it :O)
With the Holidays and everything, I feel like I'm in crunch mode!

Inside of Paper Bag Card

 Inside of Paper Bag Card 2
It's a little tough taking pictures of the bag card :O)

 Money Holder
I used JUST WORDZ Party time sentiment stamp. I have Blog Candy, so if you want to try to win this set, click HERE.  Drawing ends Dec. 18th at 10 p.m.  I have 3 different candies up for grabs, so gooooo enter :O) I will contact the winner's, so be sure to make sure I have a way to contact you!

 Back of Paper Bag card: I put a note on the bottom half of the tag at top.
There is also another pocket in front for Jozey to put things that she wants in there.
Jozey keeps everything, and she loves things like this, so I'm sure she will put all her special goodies in here. When you have a 16 year old granddaughter, well...I know better than try to shop for her and she loves money! ...so do I tee hee!!!

My oldest grandson is getting money too, but we are going to play a sneeky on him. We are going to get it in all ones, and put newspaper in the box, and dump the dollar bills in it. It was his Dad's idea, so he will have something to open. He loves model's so he can buy whatever he wants :O)
